Issues in the Delivery and Receipt of Home Support Services in BC
4:00- 5:30pm
Approximately one million people in Canada use home care services annually. This seminar highlights the key issues in the delivery and receipt of home support services to elderly individuals in British Columbia with particular emphasis on clients with dementia.
Our program is intended for practitioners, researchers and students interested in the delivery of home care and the interface between paid formal care and family care and/or the care labour of home support workers. Everyone is welcome.
Presented by Joanie Sims-Gould a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine at UBC. Her research is focused on the post-operative support needs amongst elderly hip fracture patients and their family members through the various transitions from hospital to home. Joanie conducted the above research as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology (UBC) with Dr. Anne Martin-Matthews.
