Seed Grants 2006

The successful applicants in our 2nd Seed Grant Competition for BC-based researchers working in the area of aging and health were announced January 15, 2007. Seven Seed Grants of $3,500 each were awarded as follows:

Exploratory/Pilot Study Grants

  • Dr. Bozena Kaminska, team leader: The ballistocardiograpy project - cardiovascular disease screening of older adults.
  • Rachel Dean & Dr Ryan Rhodes, team co-leaders: Understanding older adult's beliefs about strength training.
  • Dr. Eunju Hwang, team leader: Housing and health transitions among older Chinese and Koreans in British Columbia.
  • Dr. Stephen Robinovitch, team leader: Determining the accuracy of self-reported causes and circumstances of falls among elderly living in long term care facilities.

Research Team Development Grant

  • Dr. Janet McElhaney, team leader: VITALITY Research Team
  • Dr. Sonia Singh, team leader: Fraser Health falls and fracture prevention research team.
  • Dr. Cheryl Wellington, team leader: TRIAD: Tri-University innovation for alzheimer's disease.
